Description

A very nice Sportfisher with many upgrades. She's got new electronics, new canvas enclosure and a nice interior. A very solid ride and best of all fiberglass tanks. Many of these older sportfishers have aluminum or steel tanks needing replaced ($25k and up). With Hatteras that's not a problem!! A truly solid investment. Just reduced $20k to $79k.

Captain's Notes

Step aboard this classic 1973 Hatteras Convertible and you feel right away why these hulls have such a loyal following. The wide beam gives you a surprisingly open cockpit for a boat this length, with plenty of room to work a spread or set up a couple of deck chairs for cocktail hour. The high freeboard and heavy layup give you that “in, not on” the water feeling when the chop comes up. Inside, the traditional Hatteras layout means proper headroom and real furniture, not plastic modules, so longer weekends aboard actually feel comfortable. Engine spaces are typically generous on these boats, making routine checks and upgrades far less of a contortion act than many newer convertibles.

Why Convertible in California

A 1973 Hatteras Convertible is a smart choice for waters where conditions can change quickly and days often mix fishing, cruising, and time at anchor. The deep, heavy hull softens square chop and confused seas, so you’re not racing the weather back to the dock. Large side decks and secure bow rails make line handling at crowded marinas or tight moorings far less stressful. The big cockpit is ideal for trolling the nearshore edges in the morning, then setting out chairs and a grill for an afternoon swim stop. With classic looks and a proven ride, it fits right into a harbor full of serious boats and seasoned skippers.
