Description

Offshore capable Pilot House Cruiser complete with powerful Ford Lehman 80 HP engine and great accommodations. The boat was purchased by its current owner in 2014 and has been up and down the west coast from Mexico to where she lives now in Bellingham, WA. In 2014 the boat was refitted with all new standing rigging, a rebuilt engine and a completely stripped and re painted bottom job. Boat is very dry inside. It was a liveaboard for several years so no leaks or moisture issues whatsoever. Needs outside wood work. Pilothouse offers great views, interior steering for the PNW and storm...

Captain's Notes

What stands out on this Spindrift is how workable she is for a couple or solo sailor. The pilothouse isn’t just a pretty space; sightlines forward and aft make watchkeeping in rough weather far less tiring, and there’s enough flat surface around the interior helm to spread out instruments, tablets, and paper charts together. The wide, uncluttered side decks and solid bulwarks feel secure when moving forward with a hand on the rig. Storage is generous and thoughtfully placed, so long passages don’t turn into a constant game of “where did that go?” Underway, the Ford Lehman’s low, steady thrum and fuel-sipping reputation translate into relaxed motor-sailing on long stretches between weather windows.

Why Spindrift Pilothouse 43 in Washington

For these waters, a true pilothouse cruiser is a huge advantage. Conditions can swing from flat calm to snotty in a few miles, and being able to stand a warm, dry watch behind glass instead of huddling in the cockpit makes all the difference. The Spindrift’s substantial displacement, deep hull form, and protected aft cockpit suit choppy channels and confused tidal rips. Her efficient diesel and roomy tankage mean you’re not held hostage by light-air forecasts when pushing between distant harbors. Add the generous interior volume and storage and you’ve got a boat that’s comfortable riding out a week of gray weather at anchor without feeling cramped or compromised.
