Description

For Sale Glasspar Boat. I have a 1962 Glasspar boat with a trailcar trailer, and a 1959 Mercury Mark 58 A 45 horsepower engine. It was last on the water in 2006 and ran well then. It was winterized and parked inside since then. In fact it has always been parked inside. No guaranty on boat, engine, or trailer and you pick up. Cash only. I live in Smithton,Pa15479. Do a search for a Mercury Mark 58 A outboard engine. This engine is electric start and has the original controls with it. The engine has forward, reverse, and neutral. If you are a collector or boat person you will recognize the...

Captain's Notes

This Avalon has all the charm of early fiberglass design: sweeping sheerline, rounded foredeck, and just enough brightwork to turn heads at the ramp. The compact footprint makes it easy to tuck into a garage or small storage space, yet there’s still room to bring a couple of friends along for a relaxed cruise. The classic helm layout keeps everything within easy reach, and the light fiberglass construction means you get up on plane quickly with modest horsepower. With its vintage lines and period-correct power, this Glasspar is ideal for someone who enjoys preserving original character rather than starting from a bare hull restoration.

Why Avalon in Pennsylvania

A 1962 Glasspar Avalon suits sheltered rivers, small lakes, and calm coastal inlets where short hops and slow evening cruises are the norm. Its size makes it simple to launch at smaller ramps and to maneuver in tight marinas or narrow channels. The relatively light hull tows easily behind a mid-size vehicle, so exploring different nearby waters is straightforward. For local boaters who want something distinctive at the dock, the Avalon’s retro profile stands out among modern runabouts. It’s a practical platform for relaxed day trips, sunset runs, or teaching new boaters the basics without handling the bulk of a larger vessel.
