Description

The cruiser ″Ypton 22″ is a further development of the proven boat type ″Ypton″, which was designed for recreational and cruising sailing. To enable the boat to be used in areas with shallow water, a keel design was chosen. The resulting low overall height is more favourable for trailering. The design of the ballast keel and its mounting on the hull also allow for possible conversion to other keel shapes. Captain's Notes

Step aboard this Ypton 22 and you’ll feel straight away that it was drawn by sailors who actually get out on the water. The cockpit is deep and secure, with coamings high enough to lean against on a long beat, and a tiller that keeps you connected to the boat’s trim. The rig is simple and forgiving, so you can shake out the sails for an evening breeze or shorten down in a squall without drama. Down below, the layout makes clever use of the beam, with real stowage for cruising gear instead of awkward nooks. It’s a boat you can tinker with, improve, and really make your own.

Why Ypton 22 in Florida

For sheltered waters and nearshore cruising, the Ypton 22 hits a sweet spot. Its modest draft lets you nose into quiet anchorages, explore back channels, and still feel confident if the depth starts disappearing under the keel. The compact size keeps mooring and storage costs manageable, yet there’s enough waterline to make good passage times between weekend destinations. In breezy afternoons, the hull form delivers a steady, predictable motion that keeps crew comfortable and new sailors relaxed. When the weather pipes up, the ballast and balanced sail plan give you the control to shorten sail and keep going rather than heading for the dock.
