Bradley Knipstein Original Builders: Hatteras Yachts Architect: Jack Hargrove Exterior Design: Jack Sarin This 81’ motor yacht features two enormous full-beam salons, two enclosed wheelhouses with deck access doors, residential-sized galley, a distinguished primary suite, 3 guest cabins and 6 heads. Almost every area of the interior is warm, airy and full of natural light. The luxury vessel’s exterior design is the work of famed Jack Sarin and she was last retrofitted in 1993 before the main and below deck renovation by Studio Ganz in 2022. Returning the boat back to its classic feel to reflect the current owners personalities while epitomizing a “work hard, play hard” lifestyle for adventurous entrepreneurs, the vintage style vessel brings new ideas to an old school world of yachting in a unique and modern way. The interior design is a sumptuous and playful balance of California cool and worldly opulence. The original Hatteras 61 model was the first Hatteras motor yacht designed with the galley aft of the wheelhouse rather than down on the lower level. It was the best-selling yacht in her class for much of the 1980s. Its low draft allows Oasis to access shallow bays and coves. The notable wide-body interior offers the living space of a much larger yacht. Guests board via the Aft Salon, a plush entertaining space with a large expandable butterfly cocktail table, curved banquette, radiant-heated tile floors, wet bar, and wing doors to port and starboard side decks. The custom curved banquette with vertical channel tufting was carefully removed and fully restored with a breathtaking “Prussian Blue” performance outdoor velvet. A playful faux tiger Feroz rug anchors the vintage burled mahogany coffee tables. Pillows incorporate classic rope knot patterns and contrasting gold/blue velvet color schemes. Subtle details such as the Art Deco style wall covering in the Day Head and 3-D printed plant polymer lamp by Gantri were influenced by the client’s love of Art Deco architecture. The Main Salon is a flexible, dynamic living and dining area, entered through an oversized etched glass door from the aft deck. It features full beams, a large vintage Italian marble dining table with gold foil maritime chandelier above, Samsung Frame TV flanked by capiz shell wall cladding and vintage bronze sconces, large Blu Dot sectional and a custom Moroccan rug. At the large wet bar and entertainment area, Ganz replaced old speaker panels and cladding with famous champagne quotes. The die wall of the bar was re-clad in custom diamond tufted leather. She took the vintage heavy swivel barstools to her trusted powder coater for a unique “ombre” silver-gold plated effect. Just off the salon and galley, the large and commanding Wheelhouse is on the same level with a bench seat that accommodates two underway, doors open to the port and starboard side decks. A mahogany stairway leads upstairs to the upper Wheelhouse where semi-circular booths provide a handsome environment for working and dining. The exterior decks are designed for easy movement and working with wide side decks, and a large foredeck. There is a large circular built-in seating area on the foredeck, evoking mid-century style lounges from the 60s and 70s. An open-style office area is tucked below the winding stairwell down, featuring a vintage mid century chair and original artwork inspired by wine glass rings. Forward is a guest or crew cabin with over/under bunks, deco-inspired furnishings and private head with shower. To port, forward of the twin engine rooms, is the VIP guest stateroom with twin beds and common day head with separate stall shower. The guest stateroom features re-upholstered headboards and furnishings, including locally sourced art. Aft is the full-beam master stateroom with walk-around king berth, his/her walk-in closets and private head with tub and shower. The star of the show is a custom design and intricately upholstered vinyl/fabric headboard. Sculptural bronze “Surface” wall sconces by Studio Henry Wilson are a fun focal point. The upper wallpaper is mesmerizing a shimmering “Enigma Aquatic” color by Koseal. There is a built-in sofa to port, custom designed in a luxurious black leather with custom baseball stitching, button hook detail and leather belting in bronze. The laundry room has separate washer and dryer units. Studio Ganz upgraded the wallpaper, cleaned the laminate and replaced all the decorative hardware and accessories for a simple refresh. The upper deck features an enclosed wheelhouse forward, separate galley and dinette area aft, full beam salon with dining area, wet bar and entertainment center and a covered aft deck platform.
