Captain's Notes

This classic G3 wears its age well, with that unmistakable low-slung runabout profile that still turns heads at the dock. The current setup favors easygoing cruising over hot-rod speed, which makes the hull feel relaxed and predictable, even when the afternoon chop picks up. The added windshield changes the whole feel at the helm, giving a bit of shelter and a surprising boost in comfort on longer runs. Step aboard and you’ll notice there’s more usable space than you’d expect from a boat this size—plenty of room to stretch out, stow a cooler, or toss in some light fishing gear without feeling crowded.

Why g3 in New York

For the kind of mixed conditions you see in this region—tidal currents, afternoon breeze, and the occasional steep wake—the G3’s classic deep runabout lines shine. It’s light enough to launch and retrieve without drama, yet solid enough to feel planted when quartering across chop. The more moderate power package keeps fuel burn gentle, which suits longer scenic cruises and lazy days exploring coves and beaches. Its size makes it ideal for slips, moorings, and tight ramps where larger boats become a hassle, while the simple layout and minimal draft open up skinny-water backchannels that deeper cruisers have to skip.
